Frost Damage

The night time temperatures have been getting increasingly lower and lower each night, a few nights have already been in the mid 20's. When the temperature gets this low, we have to wait to get out on the course until the frost has lifted. Even if the sunny areas are clear, the shaded areas will hold frost for at least 20-30 minutes longer. When frosted grass is driven over, it can damage the plant cells and sometimes kill the plant. When frost damage occurs in the fall, it can be harder for the plant to recover due to the lack of energy that the plant has remaining and it is possible for this damage to show up in the following spring. If you see any frost, please stay off of the course until you have the okay.
